MoM: Gireesh, for guiding the team to victory
MVP: Natty, for awesome death bowling and a great start for chasing
After the loss to Stanford A, Entourage wanted to go back to the winning ways. Losing the toss, Entourage were asked to bowl as Fremont Warriors did not have the 11 to start the game.
First Innings: Raman and Arun D started the preceding for Entourage and Arun was in his stride and got us the breakthrough in his first over with an excellent diving catch from Jag at point. We kept the run rate to below 6 at the end of 8 overs with Arun D’s excellent spell of 4-0-8-2. The change of bowlers were not able to maintain the same low run rate and in the 11th over Baba made a good stumping of Asif’s bowling and the score card was reading 77/3 in 11. Entourage was not able to stop the flow of runs in the next 5 overs as Warriors went to 120/4 in 15. With a potential big score looming, Ahsan brought in Natty who turned out to be the game changer. Natty got 2 big wickets in his first over and some good tight fielding prohibited Fremont warriors to score easy runs. Entourage restricted Warriors to a total of 144.
Second Innings: Entourage started the innings with inform opening pair Natty and Jag. Jag fell in the 3rd over trying to up the run rate. Baba joined Natty in the middle and kept rotating the strike and Natty punished any loose balls. At the end of 6 overs the score was at 55 and Natty got out after the end of power play. Gireesh joined Baba at the middle and was rotating the strike and at this point Baba took over the role of scoring boundaries and he scored four 4’s in one over. Baba fell in the the end of 11th over with the score reading 100/3 in 12 overs. Our next 3 wickets all fell to run outs. Arun D and Saideep were the next 2 wickets and they along with Gireesh made sure that the required run rate did not go above 6. With 18 required from 17 balls, Gireesh got 2 consecutive boundaries to relieve and pressure. With 7 required from 12 balls, the games was completed in the 19 over.
Highlights: Arun D’s opening spell, Natty’s finishing spell, Natty’s, Baba and Gireesh batting, Gireesh not giving away his wicket
Drawbacks: Bowlers not sticking to their line and length and thus leaking too many runs in the middle overs, dropped catches, tardy running between the wickets
