Asteroids fall short yet again

Asteroids lost the toss and were asked to Field on a hot day. Asteroids opening bowlers of Arun D ( 1 wkt ) and Vishnu ( 1 wkt ) started off and hit the mark from ball one. The openers found it hard to score runs which resulted in the first wicket to Arun D. Both bowlers kept it really tight and Indus batsmen could score just 16 runs in the first 8 overs. Nabeel ( 2 wkt ) and Chetan ( 3 wkt ) were brought on first change and both bowlers immediately struck with a wicket each. Indus went into the first break at 40 for 3 in 15 overs. Second session the plan was to attack with Spinners. Chetan was at his consistent best but he was not supported on the field with couple of catches going down and with fielders mis fielding regulation stops and conceding more runs. Asif ( 2 wkt ) supported Chetan on the other end and picked up two wickets against the run of play. Indus score 80 runs in the second session and went into the great at 130 for 6 in 30 overs. In the third session With two set batsmen in Chinmay and Deepak at crease , the indus batsmen wanted to make full use of the last 15 overs. Asteroid bowlers kept things in check and were able to pick up wickets at regular intervals , Deepak scored a quick 50 before being the 9th wicket to fall at 190 for 9 in 36 overs. Asteroids were unable to finish the tail and resulted in a last wicket partnership of 27 runs. Indus were finally all out for 217 in 42 overs. Good bowling performance by Seamers , but the fielders let the team down badly. Nearly 30 runs in mis fields and lazy efforts on the the field to add to 3 drop catches.

Asteroid chase got off to the worst possible start with Rohan and Akshay falling in the 2nd over. Hari and Abhishek looked good and kept the runs flowing. Hari (39 )was at his attacking best hitting two huge sixes , Abhishek ( 51 ) supported him well by keeping the score board ticking. When things were looking good and momentum was about to shift, Hari fell for yet another 37. Asif was next man in & he to got out immediately. At the end of first break Asteroids were reeling at 75 for 4 in 15 overs. Abhishek and Arun (18) set about rebuilding after the break. The runs were flowing of Abhisheks bat who reached his fifty quickly after the break. Just when the partnership was forming, Abhishek fell after playing a tired shot. Priyankar was the next man in and he too looked out of sorts and was out after adding just 1 run. Vishnu (11) and Arun D continued to bat till the break and Asteroids were 129 for 6 in 30 overs. Need of the hour in the 3rd session was a partnership of 50 or so, but that did not come. Arun D was runout immediately after the break and soon the tail was exposes. Asteroids were all out in 35 overs for 134. Vishnu remained not out.

Negatives:

Worst fielding performance. It was more about the attitude on the field and towards fielding that let the team down.

No Partnerships with the bat.

Batsmen need to step up and find a way to score runs.

Spinners were not up to the mark.

Positives:

Seamer all went for under 4 runs an over.
